thanks max :)
Posted by: lashundra on October 7, 2003 01:20 PM1. Are you close to spectacular or fantasically well?
Why, close to spectacular, of course!
2. What do you consider your best quality?
It would probably be that I am a good listener.
3. Are Black people in Boston normal?
lol. it depends on how you define normal. The two main groups of Black folks here are the local black people and the black student population. Both groups are fairly small. There are no bourgie black neighborhoods in Boston....just poor and maybe middle-class Black ones. But it costs a lot of money to be poor here with these high ass property values....and most of these black peoole ain't 'regular' Black people...they from trinidad, jamaica, the dominican republic, cape verde, somalia, ethiopia...all over the damn place and anywhere but here. then u got the black students, who are strugglin tryin to find their blackness in a city where blackness is not encouraged and at schools that aren't largely Black. Forget Harvard Black people...they definitely ARE NOT NORMAL!! But yeah....in short, Black peole in Boston are not normal..... by any standard.
1. Is 'Bowtie' one of your favorite songs on Speakerboxxx?
Actually it didn't start off as one of my favorites....on first listen I liked Ghettomusick, Unhappy, and Tomb of the Boom were the three songs that I enjoyed the most on Big Boi's album....but Bowtie has grown on me and now it IS actually my favorite cut on Speakerboxxx.
2. What would you do to fix the Braves?
There isn't much to do in the way of fixing them as a regular season squad....our farm system is still one of the best in the majors (witness the number of former Braves such as Jason Schmidt and Jermaine Dye)....someone needs to advise Bobby Cox to stop putting his pitchers on the mound with 3 days rest....and his postseason substitutions have ALWAYS been very shaky....they play too conservatively....
3. There was a recent article in the LA Times and on PBS that discussed how King/Drew University out here was becoming 'less black'. Do you think that is a concern at Black Colleges/Universities in General, and Meharry in particular?
It's not true to the extent that is is at King/Drew here at Meharry. King/Drew's situation (at least what I know of it) has to do more with the various educational referrendums that the great citizens of Boli....I mean the state of California have voted for. As a whole it's becoming more difficult for Black Americans to get into Medical School. Our scores are not as competitive as our colleagues of other races. The situation is about the same for undergraduate students. We need to work on our critical thinking and test taking skills as a whole.
Good questions Max....I need to get at you about something....e-mail me....
Posted by: Calvin on October 7, 2003 02:05 PMill answer these shits on my site...

2. Do you think evander should retire after that beating James Toney gave em? evander shoulda retired 4 fights ago
3. If/When you spun, did niggas bump the table like that fool in House Party? aw yea all the time, bumped spilled beer, drunken people fallin on you while u tryin to mix,i've had records stolen u name it,one time we did this party over on Van Nuys Bvld and Valerio at the Valerio gardens for the Asian Boys Gang and some cat bumped my shit and broke one of my needles so i had to dj wit 1 table for 45 mins while my boy went to the other side of the valley to get another needle.then when he got back 5-0 showed up wit the paddy wagon and we got caught up in a gang sweep, they took my picture had us stretched out and the whole bit and didnt let me go until the dude from the DJ pool came to pick us and the equipment up.he had to explain to the cops that we was DJin the party and was not apart of the gang.that was some shit yo.
Posted by: BMG on October 7, 2003 02:36 PMI'm wit oj.. read the answers on my blog!
Posted by: YA TWIN aka CHA on October 7, 2003 04:06 PM1) What's more important winning an argument or being right?
Well, Max, my buddy, I would much prefer to be right then to just win. I am not argumentative just opinionated. I have opions and I am not easily swayed. I think it is important for someone to stand their ground. If a person's position is well supported I will give props where props are due. There are somethings which I know nothing about, but if I get basic facts I will always be able to form some kind of position. I was on the debate team in high school and partially in college so I know how to form an argument and I've also taken alot of public speaking courses (thank you Dr.Savage). That is the key- to be able to articulate yourself so well that you give the illusion that you you are an expert in the matter. Using the Socratic method and asking challenging questions to intimidate the other party instead of making statments is another way to make the other person look dumb. I'm opinionated NOT argumentative. I am very good at winning arguments, but for the record I much rather be RIGHT then win.
2) What happen to your comments on your blog?
My Comment Box ran away :( You know the saying... if you love it let it go- if it doesn't come back it never was yours to begin with. I don't know where that thang went *shrugging shoulders* this is not the first time it left. It acts up. I'm sure it'll be back.
Posted by: I_boogie on October 7, 2003 04:12 PMHey Max!!
1. Why when I drove thru certain parts of GA I could not see my hand in front of my face if I turned my lights off?
Cause 99% of GA is fuckin redneck country where they dont believe in all them street lights cause alls its gon do is scurr away the deer. Them street lights is for the city folk that dont know no better. :)
2. Paper or Plastic?
I definitely reckon plastic would be the better choice. What else Bubba gon use to keep the rain out since his window got busted during a good ole "cow pie" fight? (yall really dont wanna know what a cow pie is)
Aaawww thanks for the oppurtunity to shine on your site... lol...
I'm late, lol... the one time I don't read during the day at some point :-\
1. Can (and do) Spelman women shake it like a polaroid picture?
Funny you should ask, I had a conversation about the dynamics of actually shaking it like a polaroid picture just yesterday....
Yes, Spelman women can (and do) shake their groovus thangus (anybody read the Bap Handbook?)
However, this Spelman woman doesn't particularly like to in public... I HATE when men try to thrust their "manhood" into me while I'm dancing... that sucks!
2. How can we get you to update on a more frequent basis?
Um... make my job go away? No, I don't even know if that'd work b/c I wouldn't have THAT much to talk about... hmm... maybe send me topics and a deadline... I work better under pressure :-)
3. Have you ever gambled in Tunica?
Yup... and I normally win. I need to go down there and get my homecoming funds so I won't have to start turning tricks to kick it...
1. What do you think is the best contribution a black man can leave to the next generation?
I actually had to think about this one -- Being a positive role model. All too often we depend on Black Women to be strong and set the example -- and if Black Males took over that role ... We could be onto something
2. Where do the songs that you pick to open your journal entries come from?
My CD collection or songs that I hear while driving the mean streets of Los Angeles.
3. Is there anywhere in LA County that there is more of The Blacks than anyone else, or is that just a lost cause?
Magic Johnson's Starbucks/TGIF -- and once upon a time on Crenshaw [think Boyz N The Hood] -- Other than that it's a lost cause.
Posted by: Antonio G on October 7, 2003 08:08 PM1. Did you watch any football this weekend or last night? how did it go?
No. No football. I forgot to watch. But I promise all that knowledge you invested in me will not go to waste.
2. Anything of interest happening in Chi?
Besides me...not really! There's the Cubs thang, the garbage strike thang, and the Social Consciousness in Hip Hop joint that happened over the weekend.
3. You ever going back to NYC?
Why yes! I will be visiting in the very near future. In terms of me moving back to stay...that remains to be seen. I don't really have a desire to make my bed in NYC right now...I'd like to have a house/condo/apartment there readily available for my use whenever I wanted though.
1. What would u need to read my Tarot thingies for my future?
Nothing. You know readings tend to be vague as hell anyway so I could be your fake ass Miss Cleo anytime. ;)
2. Us Capricorns are prone not to bother with people at certain times, why do they persist in fucking with us at the wrong moments?
I don't know but that shit never fails. Whenever I need Lisa time, mofos wanna be all needy and whatnot. Blech.
3. Can I sit a drink on your booty and watch it walk away?
*lol* No.
Posted by: Lisa on October 7, 2003 11:46 PMHey Reddy...
1. Do you think Hannibal was more Denzel Washington or more Vin Diesel?
Definately Denzel, cuz Vin is sexy, but can't act, at least not dramatically.
2. Will you watch the Source Awards? Why or why not?
Hell yeah.. for the comedy value alone, and i wanna see who gets in a fight this yr.
3. Can I get salmon steaks when I come home? damn, lol
Of course... U bring the drinkz.
These questions are great!!
1. Al Sharpton or Carol Moseley-Braun? or Neither? Explain.
Carol Moseley-Braun most definitely. Between the two candidates she is more intelligent, knows the issues that our community is concerned with and has the most political experience (first black female U.S. senator, ambassador to New Zealand). She is an excellent person to be around. I had an opportunity to have lunch with her and some of my classmates in college. The only major problem is that some of her political ties are iffy. To put it simple, Al Sharpton always be acting like he faking the funk. I'm not confident in his expertise at all.
Now who will I vote for? Out of the current democratic candidates, I'm leaning towards General Wesley Clark.
2. Are you close to East St. Louis? and do they still rock Jheri Curls?
Yeah I'm pretty close to East Boogie... about 15 minutes right across the river. I'm seven minutes from downtown St. Louis. Hell yeah some of them still rockin Jheri Curls... even on my side of the river you occasionally see a few curls. I be seein those ghetto broke curls... overloaded with moisture max instead of right on lol. Get over it... it's 2003 not 1983!!
