A Celebration of Negro Film...

Starting tomorrow, February 1st, and continuing through the whole month, we here at Bolivion will be reminiscing about/criticizing 28 Black films. It will mainly be me, with some help from some people I know, their cameos are listed on the schedule below.

In the comments, feel free to speak on your experiences with said films. I'm sure some everyone who reads here has seen, and some have not been. Either way, I see it as a way for Bolivion to do our part for the cause this year.

Oh, if you want to see a movie reviewed other than what's listed, MAYBE I can squeeze it in...

I was wondering about this...

But I found out it was a hoax.

It was about Jaleel White aka Urkel joining the Ultimate Fighting Championship shit. He would have used a mix of Tai Chi and Tae-Bo.

I'm glad this is not occuring for 2 reasons. One, I have never, EVER seen anyone get their ass kicked by a Tai Chi OR Tae Bo user, let alone someone who would actually combine that shit together, and two...

How embarassing would it be to have to submit to Urkel? I mean, he may have had skills n shit, but still...

Anyway, the story is on a satire site, so yeah...

Enter the New shit....

...same as the old shit, lol.

I'm in one of the U's libraries right now. Back in the day (bout 2003 or so), going to the library was an adventure in itself and was fodder for many Bolivion adventures, or misadventures, if you will. Now? I am surrounded by people who are actually getting work done, as opposed to getting things done like bathing, or looking at porn.

It's been an adjustment, to be sure. I mean, if I can't offer you the homeless, what can I offer? lol

But life has not really been all that interesting without the CUBS or random homeless folk or trips on the bus that used to punctuate the site here. I mean, yes, there is an occasional sighting of a country crackhead, but the dynamics are way different.

And Tuscaloosa has the Trolley. Well, its a bus that looks like a trolley. But even in that, only old people and high-schoolers seem to ride it, and not that many of either at the same time.

But I have to like the non-tumultuousness(is that a word?) of it all for the time being. It will allow me to get some work done and have scripts out for people to reject and all that, so I can say fuck hollywood but steady try to get a foot in the door and what-not.

Welp, let me go snack before my 5pm class...

And I'll update the links soon, as I know they are woefully outdated...

TEST

Yes, we're back over here for the time being, as someone forgot to re-register his domain and lost it. And no, I have no credit, so it may be awhile if we get Bolivion back at all...

But thank God for OJ and his laziness, as this is still up, lol...

In Other News...

Shouts out to Don Cheadle, who copped a Best Actor Oscar nomination for his role in Hotel Rwanda.

Shouts out to Jamie Foxx, who copped TWO nominations, one for Best Actor in Ray, and one for Best Supporting Actor in Collateral.

Ray also got nominations for Best Picture and Best Director.

Hotel Rwanda got nominations for Best Supporting Actress (Sophie Okonedo) and Best Original Screenplay.

The Aviator came away with 11 nominations tho.

Click for more information.

Oh yeah, Bolivion is sporting Black National Flag colors to get ready for Negro History Week, I mean Black History Month, no, I mean African-American Heritage Month. We are about to do something special, even in the old-school space...

And.... Da Bulls are a game over .500, cause for celebration for a team that has lost 450-somethin games since 1999...
